Flowbridge

The ‘Flow Bridge’ is a unique modular composite footbridge which has been manufactured by local SME’s. The Flow Bridge is typically 40% cheaper to construct than a typical steel bridge and uses environmentally friendly materials.

I was tasked with making a short video to promote the bridge for Network Rail.

The video's purpose is to demonstrate the utilisation of innovative technology and the adaptability of this modular concept.

I worked closely with the Knight Architects and Network Rail Engineers to ensure the materials used in my renders were as accurate as possible.

Upon receiving the Architects' 3D model of the bridge, my first task involved optimising the model by significantly reducing the polygon and vertices count.

This optimisation was essential for smooth rendering and efficient web viewing. The initial model, which was 187mb in size, was successfully reduced to just under 5mb.

The main challenge in making this video was to showcase the various configurations in a fluid and dynamic way.

I successfully overcame this by dividing the bridge into two parts.

The left section shaded in white remains static in the video, whilst the various yellow shaded configurations rotate up from the ground plane and lock into place.
